Sunday again

*seen* Some documentaries about history and stuff. *heard* There's a ghost in my house. Bits and pieces. *read* Rivers of London (again) *done* Had sushi with my bestie. Managed to keep my flat clean and tidy. Stitched. Spent a lazy Sunday. Went to the fleamarket. Smashed a glass at half past eleven yesterday night and had to hoover my bathroom... *eaten* Sushi. Greek salad. Daim ice cream. Berry crumble. Lasagne. *drank* Water *thought* That some things are rather strange. *been glad* That I got some really good news.  *been annoyed* By all the small flies in my kitchen. But I guess there is nothing you can do, as soon there are some fruits arround they come as well. *smiled* When I watched my neigbours performing kind of a teenage-gang-hand-shake... Though they're both in their late sixties *laughted* When my strange neigbour asked me, if that nice Asian guy is my besties (who live in the same house) boyfriend? It is her brother and he isn't looking Asian at all.... *bought* Cath Kidston sewing book "Sew!" *clicked* google to find some cross stitching patterns

Brighton, April 2011. How much I'm missing it! It has become something like home to me. Like a second home, far away though very familiar.

Friday again

Why does the weather has to be bad during the weekends? That's not fair!

I got a mail today which contained good news for one of my projects! So now the planning can really go on and my mum and me are already very excited about it! And everybody else who is involved so far, is excited, too.

I'll have another relaxed weekend, might go into town tomorrow when weather stays dry just to have done something.

I bought SEW, the Cath Kidston sewing book and can't wait to start doing something.

"Put that in your pipe and smoke it!" I love the Dowager Countess of Grantham and started watching Downton Abbey again.

"Are you free, Mr Grainger?" And yes, I also love Are you being served? and since the episodes are all on youtube and I don't have to borrow the DVDs from my bestie, I watched some of them again.

Wanted to call my sis for a quick chat and we ended up chatting for more than an hour.... Mostly about our favorite topic; cats...

Blue polka dotts

I ordered this blue polka dott dress a while ago but it was a bit too small, so I hung it outside my wardrobe as weight-lossmotivation. Yesterday morning I tried it on and decided to wear it, just for the sake of it. It isn't perfect yet, but worked fine with a long cardi to cover the sides. I hope it will soon fit much better.

Sunday 22 July 2012

Sunday again

*seen* Mrs Dalloway. Downton Abbey (Series one, episode 1-3). The Iron Lady. *heard* A really nice song I forgot to save in my Youtube Favorites. Radio (I listen to a station that plays mostly oldies as this was the music I grew up with. My parents stoped going on with musical development when they turned 30 or so) *read* A village affair. Sonjas dritte Sternstunde (an old German novel for girls) *done* Worked. Was tired. Slept. Stitched. Read. Had baths. Had brunch with my bestie. Went to Starbucks. Tidied some stuff up. Binned some cosmetics. *eaten* Cheese cake. Brunch. Jacket potato. Kinder Bueno. *drank* Tea. Orange juice. *thought* That a bath really helps. *been glad* That I stopped panicing  *been annoyed* by my panic. *smiled* When I watched my neigbour playing basketball with her granddaughter. Cause of my sister who sent me links to pages of animal shelters and cats. *bought* Stitching patterns. 16 count Aida in "red" and "Christmas green" *clicked* http://craftgawker.com/ for some inspirations.

What to do on a rainy Saturday?

Day was rainy though the sun comes out now so I'll go for a walk in a minute.

As weather was so bad I enjoyed a lazy Saturday inside, doing some things.

Tidied up my DVDs and CDs and binned some of them

Finished a bookmark for a friend

Tried to stitch a bookmark for myself which ended in a nice spelling mistake.

Enjoyed some berry-crumble

Polished my nails (Essie Forever yummy!)

Rainy days

Weather report is as bad today as it was yesterday, so why not start into the day with some rain-related music?

And a song that doesn't have anything to do with rain but is the perfect music for a rainy weekend

Chinos in Creme

Chinos in Creme

I love chinos though I can't wear them as it would just look ridic. Aren't the owl-earrings gorgeous?

Friday filler

I'm so glad this week is over.... Soooo tired!

Weekend will be lazy so enough time for movies, stitching and just being lazy.

I hope my DVDs arrived today. I orderes The Iron Lady and Island at war.

It is not the most motivating thing to see a dog flat on the ground sleeping when you have to work and am too tired for it.

I love walks, no matter which season, weather and daytime. Though I should do it more often!

I wonder if I ever manage to alter my too long skirt....

Pasta with ricotta-tomato-herb sauce

When I come home after work I'm most of the times quite peckish (a snack in the afternoon doesn't really help most of the time) and don't have much time to make a fuss about dinner. But I still try to keep the amounth of ready made dinners to an absolute minimum and try to cook a fresh meal every evening. Well, not always cooking, I also often have a salad or now in summer just melon and parma ham.
I normally cook two servings and take one to work the next day.

I love dinners that are prepared in less than 30 minutes and preferably even give me some time to tidy up a bit in the meantime.

So here is another quick and easy dinner, I had to get rid of some ricotta and ended up with this pasta.

For two servings
150 g pasta
300 g tomatos (you can also use plum-tomatos if you prefer)
1 small onion or spring onion
ca. 2 tablespoons of herbs, either fresh or dried (when dried, 1 tablespoon might also be enough)
1 teaspoon granulated vegetable broth
1 dl tomato juice
100 g ricotta
Pepper to season

Cook the pasta in boiling water till done.
In the meantime, preheat a frying pan (I fry without oil, but of course this is just personal preference) and fry the copped onions for one minute. Add the copped tomatos, tomato juice and vegetable broth and allow allow to cook and reduce a bit for about 10 minutes. Shortly before the pasta is donne, add
ricotta and herbst to the tomatos and mix well. Season with some pepper. Mix the pasta with the sauce and serve.

Herbwise you're free to vary. I used one tablespoon of chives (fresh) and one teaspoon of dill (also fresh) plus some dried thyme and Italian herbs.

Bathing time

I love to have a relaxing bath in the evening, but of course only when it is cold. But it was too chilly yesterday to sit on the balcony I had a bath instead.... Well, was also feeling rubbish, very tired and cold and somehow like getting a cold so I enjoyed a long, hot bath while reading and drinking tea. And eating an ice... Yes, an ice... In the hot bath... I can only recommend it, it is great to eat Magnum in the bathing tube!

I still know how to work my iron....

I have this dress for quite a while now, though I was too lazy to iron it... But as I had to iron my Mums present on Saturday I could deal with this one as well, so I wore it yesterday and today. I know, the shoes are not the best thing to go with it but I just love them so much that I wore them nevertheless.
The ring is a present by my granny. I went to Brighton last November some days before my birthday so instead of a present she gave me money  for my holidays. As I didn't just wanted to spend it on something I decided to buy a ring with it.

We had such a great day yesterday! After a lay in and a terribly lazy afternoon I went over to my parents to help prepare dinner and then the whole family (parents, my sister and her boyfriend, granny and my aunt with her husband) gathered for dinner and a rather funny evening. We all left round eight and my sister wanted to go and bury her rat, which died on Saturday. So I went with them and we had kind of a funeral for her, including flowers. I won't tell you where we buried her.... I don't think that something to tell.... ;-) In the end my sister and me chatted for almost an hour in front of her house, cuddling one of her cats. I love days like this and that's the great thing when the whole family lives in the same place!

Sunday again

*seen* Are you being served? Turn back time. *heard* Oh Yeah by Roxy Music *read* Whispers under ground. *done* Enjoyed my holidays. Spent time in town. Looked after the cats. Fell in love with a cat. Spend time with family and friends. Played a bord game with granny and lost four times out of four. Finished my Mums birthday present. Created some stitching patterns. Spent a nice Sunday with my family. Attended the funeral of my sisters rat. *eaten* Cakes. Chocolate. Cream. Sushi. Risotto. Pasta. *drank* Flavoured water. Coffee. Red wine. *thought* How good it is to be alive - once again... *been glad* That we had no more hailstorms  *been annoyed* By the strange weather. Wasn't really able to use my balcony. *smiled* cause of my fathers cousin. *bought* Lipstick. Books. *clicked* Pages of animal shelters

Guess where I've been. My fathers cousin lives in Einsiedeln and we went for a short walk up to the cloister.

Saturday 14 July 2012

Done!

I finally finished my Mums birthday present yesterday evening! Was such a good feeling to be finally done after almost exactly 60 hours! 60 hours... That's one and a half working week.... Two and a half day... And as I often watch movies or series while stitching I put it into that context. 60 hours are all episodes of Are you being served?, Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister. Including all the Christmas specials. Or Downton Abbey Series one and two watched four times! Crazy, isn't it?

I'm quite proude that I finished it in time and I'm sure Mum will like it. Or at least I hope so ;-)

I said that I won't stitch a single stitch for at least two weeks now. But yesterday my Cross Stitching Card Shop magazine arrived.... I still want to stitch some stuff from the last one.... I'd love to stitch some "Keep calm and ..." and create small poetry to hang on the fridge. I already have the pattern ready for bookmarks for a friend and spent quite some time with an Obelix-pattern for my father. When should I stitch all of that???????

Friday 13 July 2012

Friday filler

I spent my holidays mostly in quite a lazy fashion and I really like it like this. I mean, you have to relax somewhen!

Yesterday, I spent a day with my fathers cousin. She is 81, very good fun and one of the most inspiring people I know. We only meet once a year but compared to this, our relationship is quite deep.

Somehow there is a prickle somewhere inside me and I really love to be more creative but I don't know with what.

I thought that I won't stitch anything for at least two weeks after my mums birthday present is finished. Though now I'm already sitting here with patterns for bookmarks for a friend, a Calvin&Hobbes card for my dad and some bookmarks for myself. Crazy!

I fell in love with a cat on Monday, but unfortunatelly can't have her before I've moved cause they don't want me to keep her inside for so long.

I really have to go back to healthy food from Monday on!

Yesterday was magazine day, bought two on my way home and when I emptied the mailbox I found my new Cross Stitching Card shop. Cant' wait to stitch the lovely All our Yesterdays card.

Wednesday 11 July 2012

Let's plunder the plum tree!

I'm in the mood for make up experiments at the moment and tried out somethig new today.

All you need is a plum, a dark greyish brown and a pink. I used two colours from the Covergirl vivid green palett, the plum on the left and the pink second from right. The brown I used is my beloved Art Deco 218. And of course mascara, I almost never leave the house without mascara.

I applied the pink all over my eylid, then the brown on the lower half of it. The plum was used as eyelinr all round my eye.

Cloudy day

Cloudy day

Day's been cloudy today, it looked quite good in the morning but turned to rain in the early afternoon. I'm spending a lazy day inside, not doing much. But hey, I have holidays! I'm alowed to hang arround!

Caramel macchiato in the garden

I don't know why I suddenly was so in the mood for some brown make up on Saturday. Well, most of my make up are brown, but normally it is a greyish brown, not a orangish caramel one. I was quite glad that I haven't binned the perticular eye shadow as I binned some stuff I've never used a while ago. But I found it and used it together with some of the things from the Catrice Sydney and Berlin Collection.

I used some of the Sydney Collection Bondi Beach eyeshadow all over my eyelid and up to the brows and then the Art Deco one round my eye (I applied it with an eyeliner brush) and on the eyelid. Some of the Harbour Bridge came into the eye crease and I blended it up a bit.

Art Deco shopping

First day of my holiday. My night was short, wasn't able to sleep before two in the morning and woke up at five again. So was a bit tired and lazy all day. After noon I decided to go to the nearest shopping center, mainly because there is a sushi take away. But of course I also did some shopping.

I got a lipstick from the Art Deco Dita von Teese limited edition and a Mineral powder foundation. The lipstick is number 645, a lovely, pinkish red, best described as fuchsia. It gives a very smooth finish and looks ok for ages. I ate and drank and only noticed that it faded a bit, but it still looked neat and nice. And the bit I applied on the back of my hand as swatch still haven't really gone away after washing my hands at least five times.

I also like the Mineral powder foundation, this one is number 4, which is quite a bit darker than number 3. I use number 3 for the winter months but now it is too fair for me, I look a bit ghostly-pale when I put it on. I normally use a liquid foundation by Catrice or the matte mouse by Maybelline and then some powder (the cheap 1.99£ one from Natural Collection at Boots which takes ages to use up) but when it has to go quickly I love the powder foundation as it is two products in one.

There was just one small downside of my shopping. I was quite sure that the lipstick was labeled with 19.90 franks, though in the end it was 29.900 (which I only noticed when I was back home, otherwise I would have asked) and there was not pricetag on the powder... As I didn't asked.... It was 49.90.... If I'd knew that I don't think I bought it.... But well! They last forever, most likely much longer than my liquid foundation of which I always bin quite a bit as I'm not able to get it out of the bottle.

My whole shopping. Powder, lipstick, notebook, mousse au chocolat

Friday again

I have a weeks holiday next week and will enjoy it at home.

Can't put "Whispers underground" aside. Maybe somebody used magic on the book.

I guess I need one of the Essie Summer edition polishes.

Do you read the Never Second blog? I came across it when it was in it's second week and always look forward to new posts. Unbelievable that Martha is "only" nine!

My Wednesdays horoscope said that I should go to bed earlier. Was I such a bad girls that the stars need to tell me?

I so enjoy looking after my sisters cars. What is better than cuddling with a little furry friend?

Sunday 1 July 2012
