Late Summer Walk

Summer really had a great showdown today with a lot sun and warm temperatures. Tomorrow should be warm again but from Wednesday on autumn will be back. I love this time of the year, everything is still green though the first yellow leaves sneak in and the air is full of this crispy smell of the first fallen leaves roasting in the sun.

As I had the afternoon off I took the oportunity to take some pictures.

7 things I did today

German blogger Frau Liebe writes about the things she does like crafting, cooking or about her fleamarket finds. On Sunday she posts: "7 things I did today." Seven things she used her hands for, no matter if for five seconds or five hours. As I really like the idea, I'll do one today as well.

Tried to do a victory roll hairdo with scarf. I think I still need some practice cause it didn't really worked. Though I had the perfect music for it; Calling all workers....

Cooked chocolate pudding. And ate a lot of it

Had a healthy lunch with salad and chicken. No, it isn't burnt, it just looks so cause of the marinade

Worked on my mums birthday present

Wrote a bit - though on the computer and not on my old typewriter, but it looks much better like this...

Polished my nails

Ship ahoi!

I spent the day in town today, having a stroll over the flea market - unfortunately without finding something but I'm sure that I'll be lucky the next time which will hopefully be soon - then cappuchino and cheese cake at Starbucks and later on I went for a tour on the lake, as I felt so like it. There are some small tours round the lower part of the lake which take arround one and a half our and though the ship was crowded it was good fun. Should do it more often, I mean, the lake is so close but somehow you don't do these things when you're not a tourist. Maybe you feel like doing it sometimes but as you can also do it next weekend, and the one after next and and and you postphone it and never do it.

Really enjoyed my day out and will have another one soon! Sometimes we should start to see our home town from a tourists point of view.

Augustinergasse. Just some steps away from Bahnhofstrasse, a different and quiet world

A rose outside a flower shop

 Walk from Bürkliplatz to Bellevue

A short break at Starbucks
 Ship ahoi!

 Back at Bürkliplatz...

 ... overlooking the lake

Back home and stitching like mad

I took the pictures with the Hipstamatic-app which I really like! There is just one negative point, you can't zoom though this was like this with many cameras in the past I guess.

"Räbeliechtli" where do you go?

Räbeliechtliumzug is our Halloween or Bonfire night. We do not carve pumpkins but Räben, which are a kind of beet with a violet coloured outside, so they look lovely with a candle inside. Kids (or better their fathers...) carve motives into them, mostly with a cookie cutter, but the more ambitious fathers do it freehand. The motives are not cut out, only a thin layer at the outside is removed, so the motive is white on the violet Räbe and the lights shines through. On the evening of 11. of November (St. Martins day) the streetlamps are extinguished and the children walk with their Räbenliechtli (beetlights) through the streets. Sometimes people along the way decorate their houses as well, one even had arround 40 lamps in front of his windows! Lookes so lovely from the distance, but I was not able to take pictures.
The title of the post by the way comes from a song the children sing while walking arround.

That's the way they look in the light

If only I could have you back

if only I could have you back
we would do all the things we used to do
over and over again

work in the garden
visit your friends
go for a walk in our town
buy a Christmas tree
look at old photographs
throw stones in a fountain
take pictures
eat chocolate

if only I could have you back
we would do new things
for the first time
and I would be able to ask questions
and to get all the answers

if only I could have you back
I could met you as an adult
not as the small child I was when I lost you

to my grandad who passed away 12 years ago and who I still miss very much. I love you, Grospi!

Love letter to autumn

Dear autumn

I like you very much. You may wonder why as some people say that you're making them feel depressed. But I can tell you why I love you.
It is because of marrons and cookies and mulled wine and tea. Coloured leaves and fog, winter frost and the first snow. Long evenings on the sofa with a good book and a warm blaket. And of course it is because I can look forward to Christmas without all the stress cause there is still enough time to buy presents and bake cookies.

The time will come when you have to leave and winter will arrive. I will be sad, of course. But then... Well, you will come back next year. I'm looking forward to it!

With lots of love
Yours tea-queen

Just a small note about my pictures. I take most of them with my Nikon D-90 and the only thing I do on the computer is adding my name and change the size if necessary. I do not belive in photo shop, this is not the way I see photography. For me it is the art of the moment, a situation you catch to remember it and to show it to others. No need to change anything.
